Wool remains the quintessential fabric emblematic of a high-quality suit. We have elected for all of our suits, to use a range of wool-cashmere blends. Wool-cashmere blend fabric is a harmonious marriage of two natural fibers—wool and cashmere. This natural origin ensures a reduced environmental impact compared to synthetic alternatives. The inherent elasticity of wool fibers, combined with the smoothness of cashmere, results in a fabric that is naturally resistant to wrinkles and yet is soft, comfortable, and moves with the body in a more flattering way than pure wools. This means your wool-cashmere blend suit will maintain a polished appearance, even after a long day of wear. We use a lightweight blend of wool-cashmere, renowned for its exceptional thermal properties. The natural crimp in wool fibers creates small air pockets, offering insulation in colder temperatures. Simultaneously, the breathable nature of the fabric ensures comfort in warmer weather, making it a versatile choice for year-round wear.

Why is wool-cashmere a more sustainable choice?

Wool is sourced from sheep, while cashmere is obtained from the soft undercoat of cashmere goats. Both fabrics are renewable and biodegradable; however there are undoubtedly questions regarding some sourcing practices. We rigorously check our fabric origins to ensure they come from reputable suppliers.

Sustainability, beyond sourcing, is also about longevity. This is a core value of Impostor, as we make garments intended to stand the test of time in style and last a lifetime in durability. Wool-cashmere blend suits are renowned for their durability. The longevity of these suits reduces the frequency of replacements, contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly wardrobe.

How to best care for wool-cashmere garments (and suits more generally)?

First and foremost: never machine wash. Both the outer wool and inner silk lining of our suits require the hand of a dry cleaner. As our fabrics do not retain odour in the same manner as synthetics, you will notice you don't have to launder as frequently - in fact, we recommend you do not. We always recommend using an eco-dry cleaner. We would also advise that dry cleaning may result in minor changes in coloration, thus it is always best to send in suit separates together to ensure consistency.

Give your suit room to breathe! Avoid wearing the same suit consecutive days, allowing the fabric to air out and recover, this should effectively prevent any build-up of bad odours.

Steaming has the double benefit of releasing any odours and eliminating creases! This is the preferred option, however where unavailable either use the steam setting on your iron, or iron at low-heat.

A high-quality clothing brush is well worth the investment to attend to any superficial stains or dust.
